Explore one of the country’s top-secret underground war bunkers from World War II, just a short walk from our second stop at the Pier Head.
In the heart of Liverpool’s city centre is the Western Approaches, a museum once an important operations centre during World War II. During the war, the work carried out in this underground bunker was essential for ensuring the safe passage of British ships in the Atlantic Ocean. The bunker is now a museum where you can see how the rooms looked during the war and browse various artefacts from when the centre was active.
The museum is open daily from 10am to 6pm (last entry is 5pm).
