where to get the best views of liverpool

Liverpool is a city full of remarkable vantage points, where sweeping skylines and iconic landmarks come together to create unforgettable sights. Anyone who has ever visited Liverpool will attest that it is home to many sightseeing hotspots with spectacular views of the city and beyond.

To help you make the most of your visit, we’ve put together a guide to some of the best views of Liverpool. Whether you’re snapping Instagram-worthy photos, soaking up the scenery, or pausing to take in the views stretching far and wide, you don’t want to miss the opportunity to visit these locations.

Views from Everton Park in Liverpool.

Everton Park

Everton Park may share its name with Liverpool Football Club’s city rivals, but it offers something both Reds and Blues can agree on – some of the best possible views of Liverpool. Perched just north of the city centre, this elevated park was created in the early 1980s and provides a unique view of Liverpool’s famous skyline from a high vantage point. From here, you can catch panoramic views of iconic landmarks such as the St Johns Beacon, the majestic Anglican Cathedral, and, of course, the Royal Liver Building. On a clear day, you can even catch parts across the River Mersey to the Wirral.

But the park is more than just a viewing point. The green open spaces make it an excellent spot for dog walkers, runners, and families looking for fresh air close to the city. During the summer, the grassy hills are the ideal setting for a picnic, while in autumn and spring, the paths provide a peaceful escape from a busy life. Whether you’re a local seeking a new perspective or a visitor looking for the ultimate Liverpool photo opportunity, Everton Park combines history with scenery and open space that captures the spirit of the city.

Oh Me Oh My

Based on the waterfront of Liverpool is Oh Me Oh My, a charming tea house and a hidden gem for people who want a chilled and relaxing afternoon. At the top of this eatery is one of the city’s most memorable rooftop experiences. During the spring and summer months, customers can travel up eight floors to dine on top of the secret rooftop garden, which offers stunning views overlooking the famous waterfront, including the iconic Three Graces buildings, making it a fantastic destination to see the best views of Liverpool.

The Mersey Ferry sailing in front of the famous Liver Buildings.

River Mersey Ferry Cruise

Fancy getting a tad closer than New Brighton Beach? Skip the land experience and go all out with a ferry cruise across the River Mersey. This option lets you get up close and personal with the waterfront landmarks while enjoying a refreshing breeze.

The daily explorer cruises last nearly an hour and feature onboard commentary from an experienced tour guide. A café is available, serving hot drinks and refreshments, with both indoor and outdoor seating provided. Disembark at one of the terminals and explore what Liverpool and the Wirral have to offer.

New Brighton

Ferry across the River Mersey, and you’ll come across New Brighton, a seaside resort popular with Merseysiders. During its early history, this town was initially known for its smuggling and wrecking reputation – some say the secret underground cellars and tunnels exist to this day! New Brighton has since developed into a hotspot for chilled days out.

Head to New Brighton Beach, and you can witness incredible views across the water, looking towards the famous Liverpool waterfront. For unique displays and visits from giant cruise ships, you’ll struggle to find a more magnificent location to watch from afar.

Views from the top of Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral.

Anglican Cathedral

Not only is the Anglican Cathedral one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings with incredible history and architecture, but it is also the third-tallest building in the city. Take the unmissable Tower Experience for an exclusive open-air 360˚ panoramic tour of Liverpool and beyond.

The Tower Experience provides access to a range of great activities. You can see the heaviest peal of bells in the world at the Bell Chamber. There are 13 bells surrounding the Bourdon bell, which is called Great George and is larger than Big Ben! Fancy seeing what it’s like to be a bell ringer? There’s a bells simulator experience where you can meet some of the ringers and see the bells up close.

The Wheel of Liverpool

Fancy another stunning view of Liverpool from above? Then, head to the Wheel of Liverpool at the city’s waterfront! Run by Freij Entertainment, this wheel is an incredible 196ft high and guarantees outstanding views across the city’s skyline. The Wheel of Liverpool is an exciting attraction that offers fun alongside breathtaking sights. The wheel features 42 capsules, including a luxury VIP capsule with a glass floor, leather interior and a DVD player. What better way to experience the best views in Liverpool?

Looking out at sea from Hilbre Island.

Hilbre Island

Hilbre Island is a hidden gem located between the Wirral and North Wales, situated on the River Dee. This island is a beautiful location and is an excellent idea for a unique day out. Visitors can expect a tranquil walk where they will see rare wildlife, such as grey seals, and stunning views. It’s also the stop-off point for thousands of birds migrating each year.

There aren’t many isolated islands surrounding Liverpool, so Hilbre Island is a fantastic choice for a unique outing. When the tide is low, you can easily reach the by foot from West Kirby, making it a popular attraction during the summer months.

Panoramic 34

The Panoramic 34 is, as the name suggests, 34 floors up! This is one of the country’s highest restaurants, so you’re guaranteed incredible views of Liverpool from above.
